Friendship And Engagement Iftar Dinner with Neighbors at Raindrop Turkish House in Houston

 

pictures 6It was a huge night yesterday at the Raindrop Turkish House in Houston for the friendship and engagement Iftar dinner with neighbors. The program was attended by 350 people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Some of Raindrop's VIP guest included Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Turkish American judge Jay Karahan, the chair of Houston Community College Board Neeta Sane and the former Houston city council member Gordon Quan . The emcee of the program was done by ABC -13 news anchorman Art Rascon along side 10th grade Turkish American student Eren Okumus as co-emcee.

Raindrop NW Houston Branch Iftar Dinner

nw houston iftarOn Thursday, July 10th, Raindrop Turkish House Northwest branch hosted an iftar dinner for friends and neighbors at WFUD Building. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet new people and spend great time with the family in a friendly multicultural environment. About hundred and thirty people attended the dinner.

refugee 16Raindrop Turkish House Houston was home to World Refugue Day of Houston Festival on Saturday June 21, 2014 from 3:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. Festival was filled with cultural entertainment, children activities, cultural activities, cultural food, and educational activities.

Congresswomen Shelia Jackson Lee attended the event and shared her remarks with the large audience. Beside her, Houston City Council members Mike Laster and Richard Nguyen and Consul General of Pakistan Afzaal Mahmood were in attenence.

Fundraising Reception for Soma and Bosnia held at Raindrop Turkish House in Houston

 

donation 28The Fundraising Reception for Soma and Bosnia was held on Friday, June 13th at the Turquoise Center in Houston, Texas. The event, which was organized by Embrace Relief, Turquoise Council of Americans and Eurasians, Raindrop Foundation, Bosnian Cultural Center, Dialogue Institute of Southwest, Houston-Istanbul Sister City Association, and Texas Turkish American Chamber of Commerce, was held to raise awareness about the impact and aftermath of two major disasters which occurred in the past month, a mining disaster in Soma in Manisa, Turkey and severe flooding throughout Bosnia. The mining disaster in Soma claimed the lives of 301 miners while the floods in Bosnia also claimed numerous lives and caused extensive property and infrastructural damage in many parts of the country.

A Memorable Trip to Turkey with Austin ISD Global Studies Program

0C4198B6-95CF-4702-A7AB-6F78221DB70ARaindrop Foundation collaborated with the Austin ISD Global Studies Program in implementing a trip-to-Turkey educational and cultural exchange program between May 17 and 25, 2014. A total of 89 participants visited a variety of sites in Turkey’s three provinces, namely Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir. The group was comprised of mostly senior students in the AGS program and their teachers and chaperones from Raindrop Foundation.
