LSU Provost Adresses University's Future


Raindrop Turkish House in Baton Rouge, hosted John Maxwell Hamilton. LSU Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost John Maxwell Hamilton spoke in the luncheon forum on “LSU and the Future of Higher Education in the Baton Rouge Area” on Friday, March 11.

Provost Hamilton talked about higher education in greater Baton Area in which LSU has been the flagship university, not only in Baton Rouge but also in the state of Louisiana. Jack Hamilton stressed the importance of operating efficiently and saving money for the future of higher education.

Panel: "Cultural Views on Transport Security Administration Regulations (TSA)"

raindrop_turkish_house_panel.jpgRaindrop Turkish House in Baton Rouge, along with Atlas Fondation, hosted a panel discussion on "Cultural Views on Transport Security Administration Regulations (TSA)" on February 26th. Panelists, respectively, Jim Engster from Louisiana News Network, Ann Trousdale from the department of education at LSU, and Margeret Gonzales Perez from the department of political science at Southeastern University gave a speech, examining the impact of the TSA on different cultures and beliefs from different point of views. Julie Baxter,attorney at Rhorer Law Firm, magnificently moderated the discussion. Audiences from different cultural backgrounds and organizations also were able to contribute the discussion with their questions.

Turkey at the BRCC Cultural Fair

Raindrop Turkish House, at the Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) Cultural Fair Celebration, presented the heritage of Turkey embracing the culture and traditions of Turks on November 16, 2010 at BRCC.† Turkish folk dance group circulated a vivacious atmosphere through their fascinating and traditional "Horon" performance.

Turkish Culinary Art Classes

We will hold the last Turkish Cooking Class for the Fall'10 semester on December 1st, Wednesday @6:00pm. We will all enjoy cooking and tasting delicious Turkish dishes. The menu for session #6 includes Mercimek Koftesi (Red Lentil Balls), Ev Pidesi (Homemade Stuffed Pita), Talas Boregi, Eggplant Salad with Cheese, Gul (Rose) Baklava, and Sultan's Delight.
