Albuquerque Raindrop Turkish House Celebrated the International Women’s Day

womensdayInternational Women's Day was celebrated by ladies and gentlemen from different walks of life together in Albuquerque Raindrop Turkish House. The event started with the delicious Turkish, Azerbaijanian and Turkmen food at 6:30 pm on March 9th, 2012. Following the MC of the night Sara Smith gave a little information about International Women's Day. And then she announced the executive director of Raindrop Turkish House to give information about Raindrop and its current and future organizations. After that, guests enjoyed the video presentation of Raindrop Turkish House. At 7:00 pm a successful woman, a wife, a mother and the keynote speaker of the night Senator Dede Feldman gave a speech on "the place of women in society". Right after the question- answer section, there was a surprise for Senator Dede Feldman for her birthday. Guests enjoyed the birthday cake altogether while touring the cultural and handcraft exhibition. In addition, live music performed by Sayavur Bakhtiyarov during the exhibition tour.

In this event, women and men in Albuquerque connected to celebrate and honor women past, present and future in many exciting ways such as women's day exhibition, sharing the ideas about the aspects of equality of woman- man, delicious food and a wonderful speech was given by Senator Dede Feldman.

Congratulations to Sara Smith on her success at the 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad

raindrop olympiad awardSara Smith, a Turkish Language Student at Raindrop Turkish House Albuquerque got the Honorable Mention Award at the 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad. The 6th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad, which was organized by Raindrop Turkish House, was held at the Hobby Center Sarofim Hall on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Viewed by 2000 viewers, there was a festive atmosphere.

Before the award ceremony, Turkish Language Students from the every branch of Raindrop Turkish House got an exam on Grammar and Oral skills in Turkish. At this contest, Raindrop Albuquerque was represented by Sara Smith and she got the "honorable mention award". Congratulations to Sarah! Albuquerque Raindrop Turkish House is very proud of her success.

The MC of the program was Fox 26's Melissa Wilson. The program also hosted distinguished guests including congressmen and congresswomen from Turkey, Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis and the Consul General of Turkey.

The program ended with the awarded students' dance on the stage. All in all, the program offered a great time in an exciting ambiance to the audience.

Albuquerque Meets Turkish Delegation

raindrpSeventeen Business Leaders from Nevsehir (Cappadocia Region city), Deputy Mayor of Nevsehir, Mayor of Avanos, Turkey Consulate General for Houston and President of Raindrop Turkish House paid a visit to Albuquerque between January 30th, 2012 and February 1st, 2012.

Right after they arrived to Abq, they first visited Raindrop Turkish House. They were briefed by the representatives of RTH about what Raindrop is doing on behalf of Turkish American community in New Mexico. The other day, Terri Cole, CEO&President, Albuquerque Chamber gave an overview of why Albuquerque is such a dynamic place for doing business. After then the delegation got a tour at Intel and learnt about their manufacturing process in their on-site museum. The delegation also visited SCHOTT Solar Company in Albuquerque and the CEO of the SCHOTT Dr. Michael Jacquorie gave a presentation about solar energy market and the position of his company in the market. After the touring of the manufacturing facility the delegation left from the Schott Solar.

The Albuquerque tour ended with a visit to the Albuquerque Journal and their editorial board including Kent Walz, Editor, and Karen Moses, managing editor.

Raindrop Turkish House Participated to 50th Legislature of Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce

raindrop jpegRaindrop Turkish House participated with a boot to 50th Legislature of Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce in Embassy Suites Hotel where Governor Suzanna Martinez was keynote speaker and almost 500 guests were ready at the event. Raindrop collaborated with Texas Turkish American Chamber of Commerce that was one of the biggest sponsors at this event. Raindrop and Albuquerque Turkish Americans were honored with a special table reserved for them at the event. It was a great chance for Raindrop to promote itself with the boot and also to communicate Albuquerque business world.

Noah’s Pudding (Ashure) Celebration with the Presentation of Agri (Ararat) Province

noahspudding!Raindrop Turkish House-Abq hosted Noah's Pudding (Ashure) Celebration with the presentation of Agri (Ararat) City on December 14th, 2011. It was a celebration of a tradition passed down by Noah and a night of friendship and dialogue for all. Ashura is celebrated annually in Turkey. It signifies many events for Muslims and Christians in the Middle East, amongst the most significant being the day of Noah's Ark set on dry land. The month long festivities center on promoting friendship, good relations between neighbors, universal peace and understanding. In Turkey, a traditional dish is prepared during this month known as Noah's Pudding. It is meant to symbolize the celebratory meal Noah made when Noah's Arch landed on Mountain Ararat. It is a sign of peace, community and a bright future; celebrating diversity and keeping one's identity and culture.

A presentation about Noah's Pudding was held which explained the history and importance of Noah's Pudding. The guests also enjoyed the presentation of Agri (Ararat) City which Noah's Ark landed on Mt. Ararat.

The night ended with the guests agreeing that, like the different ingredients of Noah's pudding, people can also come together to form something sweet.
