Houston High School students donated $250.00 to the victims of Van Earthquake in Turkey

RD_HHS_Donation_1After the earthquake disaster in Van, Turkey on Sunday, October 23, 2011, 644 people were killed and around 20,000 people became homeless. A number of countries and companies have generously donated food, shelter and various essential things which have been needed. One of them is Houston High School in Memphis, Tennessee. There are around fifty student clubs in this school.

Henna Night at Raindrop Turkish House in Memphis

RD_Turkish_House_Henna_1Turkish ladies organized a fascinating Henna Night on Saturday, December 10th in 2011 at Raindrop Turkish House in Memphis, Tennessee. 

At the beginning Mrs. Ozgenc Kocak gave a presentation about details of Henna Night. Then special song by name Yuksek Yuksek Tepelere (To High Hills) dedicated to this night was sung and the Henna Night Ceremony was performed.

After the dance performances of various cultures plenty of gifts and presents were given to bride by attendees. The event followed by delicious Turkish food and dessert.

Raindrop Turkish House celebrated Eid Ul-Adha in Memphis

Raindrop_Eid_1Raindrop Turkish House celebrated the Eid-ul Adha with the local community on Sunday, November 6, 2011. The celebration has started at 11:00 am. Children played with jumping case, clown and and different kind of games. Turkish food and dessert were served for lunch. After lunch lots of gifts were given to children. Everyone who attended to eid program were very happy and mirthful. As a Raindrop Turkish House we would like to thank all attendees and guests.

Turkish People Need Your Help! Strong Quake Shakes Eastern Part Of Turkey

33278756At 1:41 p.m. (5:41 a.m. CT) on Sunday, Oktober 23, a quake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit Van province of Turkey near the border of Iran.

According to TRT, state-run network, 579 people were killed and 2608 were injured in Ercis. Officials fear that 1000 people may have been killed by the earthquake. We have received many calls and emails from the community expressing sympathy. We are very saddened by this disaster and extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May God comfort them at this difficult time.
