Global Market Place at St. Edwards University

IMG 2370Raindrop Women's Association has participated the Gloabal Marketplace event at St. Edwards University. It was the kick of event of  the International Education Week for St. Edward's Community to celebrate and highlight global connections.

At Global Marketplace vendors was selling goods and food from around the world, information tables about how to get connected with global projects, special performances of dance and art!

Turkish calligraphy and water marbling artists were there to perform their art. Visitors had chanse to buy traditional art and craft pieces from Turkey at our booth.  

2014 Texas Conference for Women

IMG 07862014 Texas Conference for Women was one of the most outstanding events that we have ever attended as Raindrop Turkish House. There was something for every woman, no matter what age, education level, lifestyle they had. It was a day full of positive energy swinging in the air all day long.

At our booth, we introduced Raindrop Women’s Association and its programs to 6000+ attendees.

There were two artists at our booth to perform their art. Diler Bilgin, Turkish Calligraphy artist, who lives in Austin drew people’s names on the RAWA Book Club bookmarks to make it personalized for attendees.

Coffee Night with Brynn Biddle

IMG 2279Last Saturday, October 25th, Raindrop Women's Association organized Austin Ladies' Coffee Night that was held at Raindrop Turkish House.Breast cancer awareness was a theme of the evening since October was National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ladies from all over the world were present in the room decorated with pink and ribbons.The evening started with open buffet dinner with dishes from delicious Turkish cuisine.

The master of the evening, Gee Clark, opened the program by welcoming the guests. Before moving on to speeches, a group picture was taken with everyone wearing pink that night.
Adel Altynbaeva, RAWA representative, gave a short speech about Raindrop's mission and events organized throughout the year. 
The keynote speaker, Brynn Biddle, made a presentation about Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and breast cancer awareness. It was interesting to learn how common this type of cancer among women is and the fact that even men can get breast cancer was surprising for many. She gave information about the importance of early detection and mentioned about prevention, screenings and treatment of breast cancer.
