Ebru workshop at Bremond ISD
IMG 6593College Station/Bryan Raindrop Turkish House representatives organized an Ebru (Turkish paper-marbling) workshop at Bremond ISD for high school students on January 9th, 2013. It was such a great opportunity for the students to see this beautiful Turkish ancient art in their art class. The students first watched the demonstration and then they were able to try paper marbling in their own during the workshop time. The students really enjoyed doing this unique Turkish art. The Bremond ISD art teacher, Lisa L. Miller said “The High School students loved this Turkish Paper Marbling and in the next week they want to share this beautiful art with middle school students”. Ms. Miller also shared some students’ paper marblings on Artsonia online Art Gallery.
Henna Night:November

College Station/Bryan Raindrop Turkish House hosted ladies for a ‘Henna Night’ on Friday, November 9th. The program started with a presentation about henna night. Henna nights are special programs for only ladies. The henna ceremony held one day before the wedding in the home of bride. Ladies come together to celebrate the upcoming weddings. After the presentation, henna ceremony presented. The bride wore a beautiful traditional Turkish dress. We have a dance group who represent Konya folk dance. When the guests left, they took henna to dye their own hands. The ladies danced all night, and enjoyed the food. There were different dishes like salad, cake, pastry and baklava. It was such a wonderful experience. Raindrop Ladies are thankful to those who joined the celebration and cook the delicious food for the night. Hurricane Sandy Victims Need Your Help Immediately
sandyhurricane1We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the damage because of the Hurricane Sandy at the US East Coast. Hurricane Sandy that is the largest Atlantic hurricane on record is a tropical cyclone that severely affected Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States on October 29, 2012.The cyclone brought a destructive storm surge to US East Coast , flooding numerous streets, tunnels and subway and cutting off, especially Zone A areas near waterways which were issued evacuation orders. Severe damage occurred in New Jersey, especially in the communities along the Jersey Shore. According to the records, hurricane-force winded as high as 90 miles per hour (145 kph).
Raindrop Organized A Seminar On Adapting To Life In Texas For New Students

Raindrop Turkish House hosted Lieutenant Jackie Maynard from Bryan Police Department for a seminar on adapting to life in Texas. The program started with greeting each other. Next, Lt. Maynard provided helpful information about adjusting to life in the US to the new students here in Texas. He communicated how people should cooperate with police officers when they are pulled over and when they become victims as well as the differences between Turkey and Texas in terms of laws and police. We delivered a token of our appreciation at the end of the Seminar to Lt. Maynard. We ended the night after serving some Turkish refreshments together with Turkish Tea.

Paper Marbling at and September Insite Magazine Launch Party

logo-art979Raindrop Turkish House joined to and September Insite Magazine Launch Party at Village Café on August 31st, 2012 to give a paper marbling demonstration to art lovers from Bryan/College Station community. People amazed with unique Turkish art of paper marbling during the event. It was also such a great opportunity to meet with many artists, writers, and poets from Bryan/College Station.
