Food and Crafts Festival

4Raindrop Turkish House of El Paso organized Food and Craft's Festival on Saturday, November 12, 2011. It was a great opportunity to El Pasoans to meet exclusive Turkish traditions including delicious cuisine, beautiful handicrafts and friendly people from Turkey. Guests were amazed by looking at how Turkish Doner was made and loved to taste it with many more Turkish foods and sweeties. Delightful conversations while drinking Turkish coffee was memorable to everybody. Guests purchased lots of handicraft  including Ebru Paper Marbling to decorate their lovely homes to have diversity and peace in the environment. Attendees of Food and Craft's fest are waiting with four eyes in Turkish way of saying looking forward to attend the next fest coming in next spring, 2012.

utep_food_fair_3Raindrop Turkish House El Paso and Turkish Students Association (TSA) participated in Annual International Food Fair 2011 at University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) organized by the Office of International Programs. International Food Fair has been organized since 11 years. There were 14 different countries participated this year such as Turkey, Bangladesh, India, China, Peru, Mexico, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Nigeria, Syria, Bhutan, Japan, Ecuador, Taiwan.

This is the second year of Raindrop Turkish House El Paso and Turkish Students Association (TSA) participating at International Food Fair. UTEP students, faculty and guests had wonderful memories from last year for having chance to taste Turkish Doner Kebab, baklava and Turkish tea. Unending lines from last year has doubled its size this year and almost 30 people were waiting on line to have friendly conversation with Turkish students and eat Turkish Doner Kebab, baklava with hot tea or beverages. More than 300 guests were hosted this year in limited few hours. Guests were very happy to see us again this year and willing to have this wonderful moments again in next year.

 Turkish Students Association is an organization at UTEP sponsored by Raindrop Turkish House El Paso.

Raindrop Turkish House El Paso announces help for Turkish Quake on TV

telemundo_2 Telemundo TV station broadcasting in El Paso Texas, Juarez Chihuahua (Mexico), and Las Cruzes New Mexico visited  Raindrop Turkish House El Paso to have a friendly heart-to-heart talk about Turkish Quake happened at 1:41 pm (5:41 pm) on Sunday, October 23, 2011. El Paso Raindrop Turkish House director Riza Gurlek expressed how badly hurt by the earthquake and announces the help campaign organized by Raindrop Turkish House.



Turkish people need your help! Strong Quake Shakes Eastern Part of Turkey

At 1:41 p.m. (5:41 a.m. CT) on Sunday, October 23, a quake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit Van province of Turkey near the border of Iran.

According to TRT, state-run network, 59 people were killed and 150 were injured in Ercis. 25 people were also killed in provincial capital also named Van. One other person was reported dead in Bitlis. However, officials fear that 1000 people may have been killed by the earthquake. We have received many calls and emails from the community expressing sympathy. We are very saddened by this disaster and extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May God comfort them at this difficult time.

Turkic Fest promises an authentic weekend for the whole family members pleasing the eye, ear and tongues of all participants. Everyone can enjoy amazing the artistic demonstrations of water marbling, calligraphy, EVERYBODY can enjoy the aromas and tastes of rich Ottoman Turkish cuisine, grocery stands, including kabobs, Doner sandwiches, vegetable and meat dishes, desserts, baklava, Turkish delight, and  taste some popular Turkish culinary delights, have a cup of Turkish coffee;
