Raindrop Turkish House El Paso Hosted "Fun and Friendly Networking"


Raindrop Turkish House of El Paso hosted monthly luncheon of Marketing Directors Network on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Business owners had a great luncheon time of letting out the stress of work and enjoyed it with delectable smell of lunch with glass of Turkish tea on lovely sunny day of El Paso. The guests astonished to learn a lot about Turkey for the first time as they expressed “Never heard about Turkey’s beauty this much”.

There were more than 50 business owners who were pleased to attend the luncheon and appreciated the hosting of Raindrop Turkish House. They were informed about the Raindrop Houses, their activities in El Paso and invited for the coming up events during spring. Later on, they shared information about their businesses and continued casual conversations.(1-19-2012)

Raindrop Turkish House El Paso offered Thanksgiving Dinner


Raindrop Turkish House of El Paso organized Early Thanksgiving Dinner on November 22nd evening to El Paso community.

Early Thanksgiving Dinner was an opportunity for Turkish families and friends to share their insightful cares, delicious Thanksgiving dinner with pumpkin pies. It was an amazingly beautiful gathering of more than 70 people from different faith communities to share a meal and have a social conversation. Each table shared their cultural and faith perspectives regarding the how they were celebrating Thanksgiving.   

The event started with welcoming remarks by Riza Gurlek, director of Raindrop Turkish House. Every single guest made a short and brief prayer for gathering around Thanksgiving Dinner. Later on Hal Marcus, entrepreneurial artist of El Paso along the Rio Grande, gave  brief speech of his artistic thoughts of Thanksgiving within Raindrop Community and gave a present to President/CEO of Raindrop Turkish Houses. Mr. Okumus was pleased to join the event in El Paso and talked about how the community is beautified with such an events.

Food and Crafts Festival

4Raindrop Turkish House of El Paso organized Food and Craft's Festival on Saturday, November 12, 2011. It was a great opportunity to El Pasoans to meet exclusive Turkish traditions including delicious cuisine, beautiful handicrafts and friendly people from Turkey. Guests were amazed by looking at how Turkish Doner was made and loved to taste it with many more Turkish foods and sweeties. Delightful conversations while drinking Turkish coffee was memorable to everybody. Guests purchased lots of handicraft  including Ebru Paper Marbling to decorate their lovely homes to have diversity and peace in the environment. Attendees of Food and Craft's fest are waiting with four eyes in Turkish way of saying looking forward to attend the next fest coming in next spring, 2012.   

Raindrop Turkish House El Paso participated in international food fair at UTEP
utep_food_fair_3Raindrop Turkish House El Paso and Turkish Students Association (TSA) participated in Annual International Food Fair 2011 at University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) organized by the Office of International Programs. International Food Fair has been organized since 11 years. There were 14 different countries participated this year such as Turkey, Bangladesh, India, China, Peru, Mexico, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Nigeria, Syria, Bhutan, Japan, Ecuador, Taiwan.

This is the second year of Raindrop Turkish House El Paso and Turkish Students Association (TSA) participating at International Food Fair. UTEP students, faculty and guests had wonderful memories from last year for having chance to taste Turkish Doner Kebab, baklava and Turkish tea. Unending lines from last year has doubled its size this year and almost 30 people were waiting on line to have friendly conversation with Turkish students and eat Turkish Doner Kebab, baklava with hot tea or beverages. More than 300 guests were hosted this year in limited few hours. Guests were very happy to see us again this year and willing to have this wonderful moments again in next year.

 Turkish Students Association is an organization at UTEP sponsored by Raindrop Turkish House El Paso.
